The Moments That Make Life Worth Living

January 7, 2011

One of my great joys in life is hidden treasures. They are the things that you just happen to find out of the blue or those amazing moments that happen when you think the day is just going to suck.

These are the moments that make life worth living:

  1. Finding an amazing restaurant that no one knows about, taking your friends there, and they end up loving it too.
  2. Showing up at a theme park and finding that there is no line at your favorite ride.
  3. When the weather person says it is supposed to rain, but it turns out to be beautiful.
  4. A baby laughing at you when you make a face.
  5. When you find that teacher who makes you want to learn.n
  6. When you find Mr. Right and you weren’t even looking.
  7. Your friend cracking a joke that makes you laugh for 15 minutes.
  8. Finding an empty parking space near the entrance to the store when the parking lot is full.
  9. Realizing that you have another bite of chocolate left.
  10. Finding money in your pocket that you didn’t realize you had.
  11. Waking up and realizing that it is Friday.
  12. When your cat sleeps on your feet during a cold night.
  13. Being the first in line as register opens up when the store is packed.
  14. Getting a genuine compliment about how good you look when you feel like shit.
  15. Surprise gifts from a friend.
  16. Pulling yourself out of bed to see a sunrise and being glad you did.
  17. Connecting with someone who you never thought that you would and making an awesome, new friend.
  18. When you realize that something that you did/said really helped out a friend.
  19. When you cook something so delicious that it surprises even yourself.
  20. That moment when you realized that you faced one of your fears.
  21. When you figure out the solution to a problem that you have been working on.
  22. When you finally unclog that drain that was backed up for months.
  23. Getting everything done on your to do list.
  24. Figuring out that your dream trip is actually within your reach if you just create a budget and stick to it.
  25. The second you realized that what you did was worth it even if everyone told you it was crazy and would never happen.
  26. The days when you have a good feeling in the pit of your stomach for no apparent reason.
  27. Free anything.
  28. Ah-ha! moments.
  29. Seeing baby animals at the zoo.
  30. When a friend or family member becomes your personal cheerleader.
  31. When you can help give someone a hand up.
  32. When you find a new blog and think “this person is reading my mind!”
  33. Being able to feel the magic of the holidays even when things are going wrong.
  34. When someone brings baked goods to work.
  35. Drinking a cup of tea and your dry/sore throat goes away.
  36. Realizing that what was wrong was that you just needed a nap.
  37. When you go to the vending machine and two packages of what you want comes out instead of one.
  38. When you are on the receiving end of a random act of kindness.
  39. Getting into a good book.
  40. Going to sleep at night with a kitchen that looks like a tornado hit it and waking up to find it clean. (I had two elves come out of hiding to do this just this week).
  41. Getting that job you wanted.
  42. Not getting what you wanted but instead getting what really needed.
  43. Getting along with someone you really dislike.
  44. When your “stupid” idea at work not only works, but gets noticed by those higher up.
  45. When you get a ton of unexpected hits and awesome comments on your blog.
  46. Shots of energy out of no where.
  47. This is for all the mommas out there: When daddy takes the little ones and insists that you take some time for yourself.
  48. Playing a video game with your partner to make him happy and realizing that you are having fun.
  49. Those moments when you feel that you can do anything.
  50. The brand new car smell.
  51. Unexpected praise.

Just a small list of the better things in life. Made me feel good writing it! How about you? What would be on your list?

42 really speaks to me.. fantastic list!

Running into someone you haven’t seen in years after just thinking you could use their insight.

Thinking you need to fill up your gas tank ($$$$$$$$$$$$), then realizing you already did. 🙂

Oh! And thinking you have one sip of coffee left, but you pick up your mug and it’s half full! I do this all the time and it never fails to make me smile.
