The Secret To Self-Worth

December 2, 2010

Where does self-worth come from? It’s not the car you drive or the expensive jewelry or clothing you have. You can’t find it in a job title or in that perfect house. And it surely doesn’t come from being seen with the right people.

So where does it come from?

It lies in your heart.

Yep, self-worth is right there.

If you are driven by the pursuit of finding meaning in what is perceived to objects of status how can you find meaning in your life?  Seeing yourself worth isn’t about seeing what is on the outside. Nope. It is about looking inside and seeing yourself as a person who deserves to be happy. And you do really deserve it.

Acknowledge your own truth. Not what others think is important, but find what brings joy and meaning to you. Push out other negative thoughts.

Realize that you deserve to be happy. You deserve respect. You deserve your own happiness. When you give up what others want you to do and follow your own path to happiness a world of beauty will open up.

Do you think that people who seem to have everything are really happy? What is your idea of success?

great points! It can be really challenging not to get caught up in what others want/expect from you, but it’s SO key to be true to ourselves 🙂 I would judge success by how TRULY happy someone is..and that definitely has nothing to do with possessions!

a lovely thought for the day. i think for many people excellence (doing well in whatever dimension they define their skills or aspirations) is one part of self-worth. it’s not only (or even at all) material, though it could be that too. it’s wanted to do something well. but the other parts of self-worth are, as you, say inside. happiness, kindness, love given and received… xo bb
