Creating A Time Capsule
Who doesn’t like opening up a present? So, what could be better than opening a present from yourself 10, 20, 30 years in the future?
Get creative with the items, but here is a few ideas to start with:
- news clippings
- a journal
Remember what is in your time capsule is only limited to your imagination. Why not adding a copy of your Great Aunt Ida’s apple pie recipe or your favorite childhood toy? Or go another way with your time capsule and try something creative:
A Pirate’s Chest: Include coins (both foreign and domestic), jewelry that is popular, a crown, and a treasure map of where to find it in the future.
A Baby capsule: No, I’m not suggesting adding a baby, but baby items. Add your child’s first tooth, their baby book, favorite clothing, or anything that was important to them as a child and give it to them on when they get older. It would be a great graduation present, wedding gift, or something to surprise them with he or she has their first baby.
An Art Thief Hideaway: Go crazy and make your own original art that represents your life, who you are, and where you are. This could include paintings, photos, sculptures, or drawings that you make. Tell the story of you and the world through your creativity.
A List Capsule: Create your bucket list or to do list and bury it. Dig it up later to see how well you have done. Include other things like things you have already accomplished.
Just keep in mind that some items are perishable and any technology items (DVDs, CDs, computer disks) may not be able to be used in the future so think of a different way of saving items that may go on those,
